Tony Lynch gets set for Loheac Legend Festival

Wigan racer Tony Lynch will head for European soil this weekend when he makes the trip to France to compete in the inaugural Loheac Legend Festival.

Tony and his Landsail Tyres Team Geriatric outfit are one of a number of teams from the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy paddock to have been invited to take part in the special event, which will see cars from across Europe come together in a celebration of the sport.

The entry into the Legend Festival comes during a break in Tony’s programme in the Retro Rallycross Championship, where he leads the way after the opening two rounds of the year.

Following a second-place finish in round one of the Lydden Hill double-header over the Easter weekend, Tony grabbed his first win of 2023 in round two to sit four points clear at the top of the standings.

With the next round of the campaign only taking place next month at Mondello Park in Ireland, Tony has accepted an invitation to head over the Channel to Loheac, which is located in Brittany, around 40km south of Rennes.

Over the course of the weekend, Tony will go wheel-to-wheel on track to fly to the flag for the Retro Rallycross series alongside a number of his regular rivals, with Terry Moore, Simon Hart and Simon Buckmaster amongst the other drivers set to make the trip.

“We’re proud to have been given the opportunity to head out to Loheac this weekend for the first running of the Legend Festival,” Tony said. “It promises to be an exciting event and will be the first time we’ve competed at the circuit, so we’re looking forward to the challenge of seeing how we match up against what promises to be a really strong field.

“Whilst it’s not an event that is going to see us scoring points for the defence of our Retro title, which remains the main goal this season, we’re heading to Loheac with our focus firmly on fighting for a victory and will be giving our all to bring some silverware back from the trip.”
