Tony Lynch enjoys Lydden Legends experience
Wigan racer Tony Lynch enjoyed a starring role in the inaugural Lydden Legends Festival, which was held at the spiritual home of Rallycross last weekend.
Following on from a successful event at the Loheac circuit in France in 2023, the Festival brought together a range of iconic machines from throughout the years, including Group B monsters from the 1980s.
Having taken a leading role in the Retro Rallycross Championship in recent years, with back-to-back Retro class titles, Tony and his Landsail Team Geriatric outfit were invited to appear on track with the championship winning Toyota MR2.
As part of the festivities, Tony took part in a series of demonstration ‘races’ across the weekend during a break in his main racing programme, which will get back underway at the Pembrey circuit in Wales in early October.
“The first Legends event at Lydden Hill was a fantastic experience and it was an honour to be invited to take part,” he said. “Hopefully we put on a good show for the fans who were in attendance and it was brilliant to see so many people walking around the paddock looking at the cars and enjoying the opportunity to get up close to some classic machinery.
“Events like this are a great way to show off the sport, and also allow us to showcase our sponsors in front of a large crowd without the pressures that normally come with battling for victory on a race weekend.
“Hopefully we will be invited to return to Loheac next year when the event goes back to France and can continue to fly the flag for the Retro Rallycross scene.”
