Lynch targets more success at Blyton
Wigan racer Tony Lynch will hope to extend his impressive record at the Blyton circuit when the Autosport International BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship in partnership with Toyo Tires returns to the Lincolnshire venue for the eighth round of the year.
Westhoughton-based Tony has already won twice at Blyton this season at the wheel of his Lucas Oil Team Geriatric Ford KA, having taken top honours during the season opener back in March and also during round four in June.
A further three victories in the seven rounds run to date means Tony goes into this weekend at the head of the Supermodified standings and in a share of the overall championship lead.
Having enjoyed arguably his best weekend of the year to date last time out at Lydden Hill – where he beat a strong field that included a number of guest drivers from both the UK and Europe – Tony heads to Blyton in confident mood as he seeks to add to his impressive win record.
As usual, his Team Geriatric squad has worked hard in the month since round seven to ensure that the KA is fully prepped and ready to race, with Tony having one goal for the Blyton meeting.
“We’ve run really well at Blyton so far this season and there is no reason why we can’t look to come away from this weekend with our third Blyton win on the bounce,” he said. “In both previous meetings, we have been very strong and I’m going there feeling confident about more success on track.
“Our record of wins this season has given us the advantage in the standings but at the same time, we know that we can’t afford to relax this weekend. The competition from Patrick Ryan will be tough and he’ll make sure that we have to perform at our maximum if we want to try and make it six wins for the season.
“With only two rounds left to run, a strong run is vital in terms of the championship standings, both in the Supermodified Class and overall, and I’ll be giving my all to bring home some good results for the team and our sponsors to set us up well for the season finale.”
