Lynch targets victory as season resumes at Lydden Hill

Wigan racer Tony Lynch has his sights firmly fixed on victory when the Autosport International BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship in partnership with Toyo Tires heads for Lydden Hill for the seventh round of the year.

Westhoughton-based Tony heads for the spiritual home of rallycross looking to maintain a strong run of form that has seen him take victory in four of the six rounds run to date in 2018.

It means Tony currently leads the Supermodified category by four points and is also well placed in the battle to secure overall honours on his first season back in the BTRDA series.

With his Lucas Oil Team Geriatric Ford KA having undergone plenty of work since the last double-header round at Pembrey, Tony heads into the weekend in confident mood but aware that a big challenge lies ahead.

As well as a strong field of UK entrants headed by main title rival Patrick Ryan, a host of top European racers are also scheduled to join the grid for the event, meaning Tony will need to be on top of his game to secure success on track.

“It’s been a busy time since Pembrey as we had quite a bit of damage to the car that we needed to sort out from the first of the two rounds in Wales,” he said. “As ever, the boys have done a great job and we make the trip to Lydden with the KA looking as good as ever.

“Whilst we have had a great season to this point, we are getting to that stage now where we can’t afford to make any mistakes given how tight the points are. I’m going to Lydden Hill with one goal, and that is to challenge for another win to strengthen my position in the standings but I know it won’t be any easy challenge.

“Patrick has shown himself to be a strong rival on track all season and the addition of the European drivers is only going to make things even more competitive. However, I’m confident that we’ll be right in the mix and can hope to come away from Lydden with good points to our name.”
